They own the Bottger Mansion of Old Town bed & breakfast. I even have my "own" room there!
White Feather Trading Co. was started by Carolyn Michaels whose brother once owned Bead Shaman, a huge store in Albuquerque in the 1970's. White Feather's main focus was supplying the Native American communities in New Mexico, particularly the pueblos. She carried leather, fur, hides, beads and other materials used in their crafts. She also specialized in antique Venetian trade beads.
Upon retiring, she sold it to me in 1997. I try to maintain the integrity and service that was the foundation of the original White Feather Trading Company.
I'm excited to launch this website to show you the amazing crafts offered by Native Americans from the Western Hemisphere and my selection of traditional crafts supplies and herbs.
In the future I'll be discussing these Native American crafts in more detail, including fetishes, beadwork, baskets, horsehair pottery, moccasins, jewelry, and much more.
